Ruby Beneficiation Experiment By Pulsator Jig

Corundum is primarily used for high-grade grinding materials, as well as bearing materials for watches and precision machinery. Aside from the star effect, only semi-transparent or transparent corundum with vibrant colors can be used as gemstones. Red corundum is known as ruby, while other colors are collectively referred to as sapphires.

Natural corundum is often associated with a large amount of gangue, and efficient extraction from ore requires mechanical separation equipment instead of manual methods.

Forui Machinery recently assisted a customer from India who commissioned us to design a ruby ore processing line. The customer’s natural ruby displays vibrant transparency and is sold as gemstones, while regular corundum is used as an abrasive or refractory additive.

Ruby Beneficiation Experiment By Pulsator Jig

We studied the properties of ruby and found it exists in coarse-grained embedding form, primarily accompanied by quartz gangue. With a specific gravity of 4.0, ruby is significantly heavier than quartz, making it suitable for gravity separation. To confirm this, we conducted a small-scale jigging test, which successfully extracted high-purity ruby with no impurities. The customer was very satisfied and subsequently ordered two jigs for ruby washing.

Whether it’s ruby, sapphire, garnet, or diamond, all are minerals that require specific separation methods and equipment. As a professional manufacturer of separation equipment, Forui Machinery provides complete solutions for the processing of rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and garnets.
